Kimwood Hog Shear Pin Retro-Fit

Kimwood has recently made improvements to the shear pins in the Kimwood Hog to avoid problems associated with a partial shear of the pins. Customers have reported old pins remaining in the machine when a partial shear occurs. As a result of the offset and the interference with the outside sleeve, the old pin is difficult to remove. The new pin design allows for 1/4" of partial shear making removal much easier.

Every Hog will require at least:

8 Pin Sleeves (4 grate and 4 anvil), Part # 106 777 014
4 Shear Pins (2 grate and 2 anvil), Part # 106 776 016

This does not allow for any spare pins. The customer needs to determine how many spares will be required and purchase the spares at the same time. Also be aware that any spare grate assemblies will need to have the pin sleeves replaced with the new ones in order that the new shear pins will fit when installed into the machine. These should be purchased at the same time as the retrofit kit as the old pins will not fit after the machine has been updated.

When installing pins be sure to coat the shear pin and the inside of the bushing with never-sieze before inserting the shear pin. This is quite important and will save lots of work when it is time to remove the pins for grate changes or sheared pin removal.
